The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency Cyber Crimes Wing (FIA-Cyber Crimes) have launched a fast-track system to address blasphemous content on the internet.
According to a public notice from PTA, FIA cyber-crimes police stations across the country now host specialized blasphemy units. These units manage cases referred by PTA and use advanced technology to identify and apprehend individuals who share blasphemous material. The agency stated that individuals have been coordinating the dissemination of offensive content targeting religious figures, holy texts, and national symbols. PTA believes these actions are part of a larger conspiracy to destabilize the country and incite civil unrest. The agency emphasized the severe legal consequences of such activities, which violate Pakistani law.
PTA has urged parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely, warning that young people might unknowingly get involved in blasphemy. The agency advised parents to ensure their children do not engage in or spread such content, as this could lead to severe legal repercussions.
PTA also called on scholars, lawyers, educators, and society as a whole to raise awareness about the seriousness of blasphemy.
